As your grow grows, it helps to see your space, not just a list of plants. CannaPal’s garden views and canopy map give you that spatial picture.
Locations
Before the canopy map is useful, set up your locations — the physical spaces you grow in. A location has a type:
- Tent or Room — an indoor grid-based space.
- Outdoor or Greenhouse — a freeform space without a fixed grid.
You can assign each plant to a location, which is what lets CannaPal lay your garden out visually.
The canopy map
The canopy map (available in Advanced view) shows a top-down layout of a location with your plants positioned in it.
Tents and rooms: thinking in plant counts
For tents and rooms, CannaPal lets you describe the space by how many plants it holds, rather than making you pick raw grid dimensions. When you choose a layout, you’ll see options like “4 plants,” “6 plants,” or “9 plants,” and the space summary reads “Holds N plants.” Under the hood it’s still a tidy grid — you just don’t have to think in rows and columns.
If none of the preset sizes fit, choose Custom and simply type how many plants the space holds. CannaPal derives a sensible near-square layout for you and shows you what it created (for example, entering 6 produces a 3×3-style grid with room to spare).
Outdoor and greenhouse: place plants freely
For outdoor and greenhouse spaces, there’s no grid. Instead you place plants freely by tapping where you want them on the canvas. Each plant remembers its position, so your map reflects how your space is actually arranged. There’s no snapping or collision — it’s your space, laid out your way.
Garden views
Beyond the canopy map, CannaPal offers different ways to look at your plants — as cards, as a list, and grouped by location — so you can browse however suits you. Switch between them to find the view that matches how you think about your garden.
