It’s easy to lose track of when you last fed a plant or changed a reservoir. CannaPal can send you device notifications so the important moments don’t slip by — even when the app is closed.
Turning on reminders
Reminders are controlled from your profile. There’s a master switch for plant reminders, plus individual toggles so you can enable exactly the kinds you want:
- Feeding reminders — for hand-fed plants that follow a feeding schedule.
- Reservoir change reminders — for automated systems that need their reservoir changed on a schedule.
Because these are device notifications, you’ll be asked to allow notifications the first time — that permission is what lets CannaPal reach you when the app isn’t open.
How schedule reminders work
When you set a feeding or reservoir-change schedule on a plant, CannaPal works out when the next one is due and reminds you at the time you’ve chosen. Reminders are grouped sensibly by type and time, so you get a tidy nudge rather than a flood of separate notifications.
Custom reminders
Beyond the built-in feeding and reservoir reminders, you can create your own custom reminders for anything — “transplant in two weeks,” “start flushing,” “check pH meter calibration.” Give it a note, choose whether it repeats, and set the date and time. It’s a flexible way to put any grow task on your radar.
Testing it
If you want to confirm notifications are working on your device, there’s a “Send test notification” option in the reminders settings. Tap it and you should see a notification appear — a quick way to make sure permissions are set up correctly before you rely on it.
